Des tutoriels vidéos sur les bases de Jabber/XMPP sont disponibles sur le wiki de JabberFR, grâce l’aide de la communauté dont wawa, Elghinn et Omega.

Les clients retenus sont Psi, Gajim et Spark, ce sont à notre sens, les trois plus importants car ils sont :

  • libres sous licence GPL
  • multiplateformes Linux, *BSD, Mac OS X et l’autre OS
  • clients pur Jabber
  • respectueux des standards ouverts
  • activement développés et maintenus

De plus, ils offrent un panel de technos assez variés : C++ et Qt, Python et Gtk+, et Java.

Le format est du GIF animé, donc il n’y a pas de son, mais elles sont lisibles par tous les navigateurs web, sont assez légères (253 à 711 Ko) et elles expliquent assez simplement les bases. C’est l’autre OS qui a été choisi car il véhicule un très grand nombre d’utilisateurs dont le grand public.

Moreover, they offer a wide panel of technos : C++ and Qt, Python and Gtk+, and Java.

The format is animated GIF, thus there is no sound, but they are readable by all web browsers, are quite light (253 to 711 KB) and explain the basis quite simply. We chose the other OS because it brings a very high number of users incuding the beginners.

  1. You forgot Coccinella…this client supports more than Psi, Gajim, or Spark. E.g., PEP, User Mood, Jingle IAX, whiteboard,.. IMO Coccinella is too much undervalued and unknown B-) Yes, that might be related due to the fact that the screenshots on the websites are already a few years old…an that Tcl/Tk means ugly software…which you will see is not true if you run a recent Coccinella version (I prefer CVS B-) ).
